My total taxes (in the US) + health insurance + healthcare not covered
by insurance + education costs take a big chunk out of my income.
Probably more than Jan-Erik's taxes. And, I make life-decisions based
on those costs. I would gladly pay a 50% tax if I didn't have to worry
about those things.
