   The same way they do in criminal pleas of not guilty by reason of
   insanity.

   There are some mental conditions, which when discovered by licensed
   mental health professionals, are grounds for being at least
   temporarily added to the no gun purchase list in some states.  In
   other states medical professionals are required to keep these same
   conditions confidential.

   I think it wouldn't be hard to agree that any condition which would
   justify a not guilty by reason of insanity plea, would also justify
   being on the no gun purchase list.
