Or maybe you've found another candidate for a closed-door discussion of 
expectations and requirements, if not the proverbial pink-slip, with 
that PHB?

Managers can cause as much damage to and in an organization as can 
folks working in IT, engineering, marketing or anywhere elsewhere in an 
organization.

If not more damage, given the broader responsibilities that are typical 
of most managers.
