A possible another approach when dealing with cross-companies files exchanges and all burden with firewalls protected ports is to use either an HTTP tunnel or a SOCKS server solutions.

I describe these two possible approaches at http://vouters.dyndns.org/tima/Unix-OpenVMS-httptunnel-Setting_an_HTTP_tunnel_between_two_applications.html

The HTTP tunnel solution has been successfully tested to establish an SSH connection between an HP owned OpenVMS node acting as an SSH client within highly protected HP network and my private Linux computer behind my firewalls (Linux and DSL box) acting as an SSH server.

The other SOCKS approach has finally be kept and successfully used by the HP customer I indirectly worked for via an acquaintance within HP support.

In the hope this may help you to reach your objective.
Best,
Philippe
