   I still haven't looked at the modern Hobbyist kits, so I
know nothing.  Did someone really Zip-compress a (big) BACKUP
save set instead of simply using Zip on the original files?
Why?

   Back in August 2010 (when I still had patch access), I
complained to OpenVMS.Programs at hp about (among other things)
a DECset ECO which expanded into a 109MB BACKUP save set,
which contained the actual VMSINSTAL kits.  More time wasted,
apparently.
