You expect NT Magazine to get it right?
I would not be surpized if other parts of WNT ripped off designs from
VMS, RSX, RT-11, RSTS, TOPS, or any other DEC product (some of
which included DOS in thier names). As you mentioned, other DEC folks
went to M$.
But ripping off parts of a design is not the same as getting it
right.
VMS decades ago was far more than Windows 8 promises.
