Some months ago I installed GNV V3.0-1 on OpenVMS I64 V8.4 and had a little
problem:
I FTPed the ZIP from HP, UNZIPpped and installed and got a message from PCSI
that the kit is obviously not perfect:
%PCSI-I-BADRECFMT, product kit DSA0:[KITS]HP-I64VMS-GNV-V0300-001-1.PCSI$COMPRESSED;1 has incorrect record format
-PCSI-I-CHGRECFMT, restored record attributes of file to fixed length 512 bytes
Such is normally no problem (it is -I-), but this time it was:
%PCSI-E-VALFAILED, validation of DSA0:[KITS]HP-I64VMS-GNV-V0300-001-1.PCSI$COMPRESSED;1 failed
-PCSI-E-HPC_TEXT, validate_finalize: Verification of signed file failed
Ok, not installed, see for problem some time later (and forgot it then).
This week, I wondered why I have GNV not installed and found the logfile.
Ok, downloaded kit from HP again, UNZIPPed it, and during install the same
message and install failed again.
Ok, I did PRODUCT INSTALL/OPTION=NOVALIDATION GNV
and installation was ok then (or so it seems - I haven't checked much).
Now I wonder, has anyone of you seen this also (as I assume, the kit
contains a checksum file of the kit before the attribute change, and
the attribute fix of PCSI installation happens before the checksum check)?
Or is GNV only for hobbyists, and no I64 or V8.4 at hobbyists, and I'm alone?
TIA
