I don't know AIX, but Linux has today the same power than Solaris
(even on sun4u and sun4v) or HP-UX.

I don't know where you have seen that Solaris 10 was stable. I have
replaced all Solaris 10/sparc I have by Linux as Solaris 10 isn't
stable enough for my applications.
