I've been using Suse 12.2 for a couple of weeks and haven't hit any 
nastie's yet.

Suse 12 has the Pan news reader as an optional installation, should you 
be interested, though that distribution channel doesn't give you the 
latest release.   Pan has attracted new interest from developers of late 
and a re-release as Pan2.

I did try Fedora 17 for a while but that proved a little too bleeding 
edge for me, with kernel releases breaking VirtualBox.  The VirtualBox 
folks were getting fixes out within a few days each time, but it was a 
sombre reminder not to keep too many eggs in one basket.

I also had a go with CentOS, but once I started comparing software 
versions, I got the same kind of feeling I used to get when working on 
old releases of VMS; you know it's probably solid as a rock, but you 
miss those new features you have got used to :-)
