If those new features are not in the kernel, but are in user level
packages, then you can just download the source kit for a later
version of the installed package and build it yourself.

I prefer the stability of a RHEL based system instead of trying to use
what is the latest half-tested fashion of the month as you can always
build on that stable base (which is what I do when required).

The other distros are ok for sampling what the latest technology
trends are, but you will not catch me using them in production
use (either at home or work). :-)
