   Or compiler.  I didn't have time to write my own compiler for a DEC
   specific language, nor to rewrite the code in a different language.

   And, OBTW, we had to patch the image on the VAX, where we had an
   image but never did buy that compiler.  IIRC, VEST doesn't support
   patched images.  If it did, I would have VESTed it.

   But I was lucky, I still had lots of VAXen in my cluster.
