BTW: is the problem with a load while the COPY operation?
  You know, that COPY did not stop the disk array.

  However...
  If you want a copy, consider a resolution with mirrorclone
(ADD MIRRORCLONE), suposing it is supported on your configuration.
  You get:
- heavy overload, like while COPY, *before* the splitting point,
   between mirrorclone add and 100% sync
- some load increase between mirrorclone sync and the split
  (writes are duplicated, but only inside the EVA)
- immediate split and immediate availiblity after split,
  like while snapshot, even if more steps is required
  (fracturing/detaching) to get a separate copy
