Seriously, what makes Java better than Fortran?  Don't compare it to the 
Fortran you wrote in the 60s and 70s, but to a modern version of Fortran 
(at least Fortran95, say).

There are people still writing new code in Cobol.  And no, not all are 
retrocomputing freaks.
