What was the last new (modern) programming language and IDE you learned?

Um, so?  There are folks writing code in assembler, Bliss and hundreds 
of other languages that few have ever heard of or used, too.

It's clear you're happy with what you have, and that you're having fun 
hacking around with your VMS servers.  By all means, use what you have, 
and continue to use it, and write your code in COBOL or Fortran (or 
FORTRAN) or BASIC or whatever  you find appropriate.

The retrocomputing enthusiasts and the OS tourists aside, and ignoring 
those folks with existing installed bases, just don't expect very many 
other folks to follow a similar path.

To find out why few folks will choose a similar path, try some of the 
newer tools and languages.
