I'm pretty sure in my basement nobody is lurking with a Linux laptop
trying to catch passwords.
And even outside the basement, if you have to deal with older equipment,
often enough there's simply no ssh available, good luck building it
yourself. Does ssh come with older versions of VAX/VMS or RTOSs like
OS-9, Lynx etc?
Not all environments are such malignant as your university.
