You mean conservative people like actual businesses that used VMS for mission critical activities?  Why in the world would they upgrade for the sake of upgrading?

Um.  No.  Linux communities didn't like Microsoft and other Unixes to a lesser extent.  99%+ used intel hardware and Linux was one of the first OSes running on Itanium.

You seem misinformed on pretty much every level.  I would recommend that you do some actual research or, at the very least, go outside and experience the way the real world works.
