Agreed, nedit has been my favourite editor for years and is the same
editor on Linux, Solaris and even on a pc under cygwin X. One of the
best things about it is the easy column cut and paste, by just pressing
the ctrl key and using the mouse to select. Also supports tabbed editing
and other good stuff. Hasn't been updated for years afaics, but perhaps
that's because they got it right to begin with :-).

Notepad++ and Jedit are real bloatware in comparison...
