joukj is always very close to the most recent versions.
Performance on VMS is not always impressive, but I cannot really compare with other OSes.
For reading/writing big files, I/O performance becomes important. I do not know if I/O routines in ImageMagick could be optimized for VMS.
On screen rendering is slow on VMS when you have lots of pixels. Of course, this all depends upon your graphics controller. And when you display a picture on your screen, is seems to be painted twice. I do not know why.
