Hoff,
as promised a few simple DTSEND tests. The systems:

ARGON vaxstation 4000-90A 128 MB memory VMS V7.3
CHROOM microvax 4000-100A 64 MB memory VMS V7.3
CERIUM microvax 4000-100A 64 MB memory VMS V7.3

Argon is a standalone machine connected to an ethernet repeater via
its AUI port and an Allied Telesys UTP transceiver.
CHROOM and CERIUM form a DSSI cluster and CHROOM has only DECnet over
DSSI, its ISA-0 circuit is set state off.
CHROOM and CERIUM are connected with thinwire ethernet that connects
to the repeater mentioned earlier.

>From CERIUM to ARGON:

_Test: data/node=argon
%NET-S-NORMAL, normal successful completion

Test Parameters:
   Test duration (sec) 30
   Target node "ARGON"
   Line speed (baud) 1000000
   Message size (bytes) 128

Summary statistics:
Total messages XMIT 26011 RECV 0
   Total bytes XMIT 3329408
   Messages per second 867.03
   Bytes per second 110980
   Line thruput (baud) 887840
   %Line Utilization 88.784

Next, from CHROOM to CERIUM:
$ mc dtsend

DTS Version 3.00 initiated on 12-FEB-2013 20:01:01.18

_Test: data/node=cerium
%NET-S-NORMAL, normal successful completion

Test Parameters:
   Test duration (sec) 30
   Target node "CERIUM"
   Line speed (baud) 1000000
   Message size (bytes) 128

Summary statistics:
Total messages XMIT 48964 RECV 0
   Total bytes XMIT 6267392
   Messages per second 1632.13
   Bytes per second 208913
   Line thruput (baud) 1671304
   %Line Utilization 167.130

The /SPEED qualifier wasn't specified so DTSEND assumed ethernet and
the result is 1.67 Mb/s, clearly somewhat better than ethernet.
All systems were unused :)

Hans
