Maybe management just doesn't want to continue on a dead end street?
Which Alpha and VMS clearly are.
Migrate while it is still time left and you're not forced to do so.
That's a very valid concern which you can't easily measure in
immediate hardware and software costs.
In addition, the replacement solution might offer more functionality
than the legacy application.
