If that fits your definition, I guess so, but I was more under the
naïve impression that it would have been less /improvised/ and more
'fundamental', like in the aforementioned UFS approach (i.e. on the
disk and/or file system, thus not so much a 'userland' intervention;
whether pre-configured as such, or not).

ever asked anything during a Windows installation?  (Asking for the
