In that case, I too easily presumed a mere workaround wouldn't
suffice and the point about having to defragment at all (and
whether pre-scheduled/pre-configured, or not) still remains.

If it doesn't cause (as much) fragmentation, it would mean it /is/
inherently 'non-fragmenting in nature' and is simply part of its
operating method. Which was exactly what I was talking about
earlier, a fundamental/lower-level means or intervention (assuming
that perhaps NTFS had changed, that I may've missed or never heard
about). Thus, not a mere 'scheduled defragmentation' every now and
then. But, I guess this could almost be construed as an 'aesthetic'
matter...
