But, if the volume is not already mounted, first of all you have to mount it:

$ MOUNT/OVER=ID DKA300:

Others have already pointed out many nice things about VMS; I'd just add one: 

$ HELP
$ HELP HELP
$ HELP SET DEF
$ HELP DIR
$ HELP DIR/PAGE

... and so on. :)
