Since HP has already announced Vernon would soon be floating belly up in
the waters, there is no need for it to add more insult to injury,
especially if it hopes to retain a certain percentage of the VMS
customer base who will migrate to x86 servers from HP.

I doubt these snafus are voluntary. They are more likely the result of
inexperienced staff in charge of those systems.

One must remember that under Hurd, a lot of qualified people were culled
because Hurd was a beancounter type and treated employees as a costly
commodity. And when you treat employees as a low cost commodity you get
high churn, and there is nobody left with enough experience with YOUR
systems to run them professionally as the whole staff is in a constant
learning curve.

So while HP management likely didn't decide to make life miserable for
VMS customers, they sure as hell aren't going to admit that their
decision to replace experienced people with constantly changing low cost
workers results in problems. Remember that they promised those changes
would be transparent to customers.

I hear business is slow in winter though :-) Suggest you head for the
bus/train terminals at Atlantic city and catch hungry passengers before
they hit the casinos and lose all their money :-)
