It is a wonderful group of people!!!

Reminds me of DEC support in the 70s :)

Anyway, grabbed an old PC cable, tried all combinations of pins (before 
reading the suggestion earlier) and found outside pins +ve, inside pins 
-ve and, voila!  I have light :)

The DS10Ls soldier on magnificently, they do a single job with VMS and 
do it well.  I have peace of mind and the website users get what they 
want - a VMS win-win, although as a hobbyist, not one that HP is likely 
to publicise.  But is is important to me and, in the end, it is the 
largest of its type in the southern hemisphere :)
