They have always offered discounts on service options. This is nothing new.
What is new is the fact that HPSC (Services) has tightened the security on the Patch Management. Now you need an agreement with the product to get the any patches for the product. Did not make a difference what type of HP-UX you had, but then you could get to them. AllianceONE had gone ahead and started issuing SAIDs for HP-UX some time back, after the first fiasco of Services tightening the access (ITRC shutdown). Until now they have not seemed interested in issuing for VMS or Tru64. I do not know if they will but I have asked and it has been escalated, given this recent debacle. No answer yet.
The thing is they list and have listed for some time that a benefit is access to patches for members on use on development and demo systems. Production has always required valid agreements. It has not been listed as "discounted access".
Anyway, the glacier continues to move...
