Mostly I do it on ATX power supplies, which are cheap enough, and
usually don't have enough connectors.
Power is reasonably independent of the number of connectors, one
could have old high current disks, or many new, lower current drives.
But yes, one should always be sure that the power supply can
supply enough current on each voltage, as well as total power.
Many have more than one connector on the same leads, one about half
way and the other at the end, and often with smaller wire than they
should have. The extra inductance, and the coupling of transients
from one drive to another are reasons I try to avoid using the
connectors that way.
