Still, I think a lot of people missed gaming as an opportunity

What surprised me was the revenue from gaming surpassing that of the movie industry some time ago

This rise of things like twitch TV for example also has opened up gaming to a world of people who can be armchair non-participants and yet still be attached to the gaming industry

I'm still very curious as to how VMs will feature in the solution stack. I'd be surprised if it can hold up against the transactional rates required for a massive online gaming competition but i could see it being used for player authentication and credentials storage. Perhaps with the new file system coming eventually, VMS might move into areas currently being populated by noSQL?

At least x86-64 is opening up the potential aspect of OpenVMS again

It would also be interesting to know if HP actually did any preliminary work in the past on moving OpenVMS to x86 or whether VSI are indeed working from scratch...
