If VMS can't survive when exposed to the same standards as other
operating systems, then it's not as secure as those other operating
systems.

In some ways, a few rounds of successful security exploits would be
a good thing for VMS. As exploits were discovered, VMS would be fixed
to close those holes or weaknesses in the VMS architecture would be
identified and additional functionality added to VMS to make that
class of attacks harder.

The result would either be a hardened VMS more resistant to today's
attacks than other operating systems or a realisation that some
(currently unidentified) feature in the VMS architecture makes it
more vulnerable than some other operating systems to the attacks of
today.

If the latter is the outcome, then you would now have the data to do
something about it.

Simon.
