Interesting. Haven't seen this one before. For du I've been using this:
new-host:ENGLISH root# du -k | sort -nr
2168 .
256 ./GRAMMAR
228 ./GRAMMAR/ADJECTIVE ORDER
52 ./PUNCTUATION
new-host:ENGLISH root#
Works even on Solaris!
