Yep. "Standard" means you get older OS X behavior (Exposé) rather than
the new OS X behavior (mute/unmute sound). Even if it worked it wouldn't
provide the desired behavior, which is the ability to provide
application-specific sequences for a function key; I don't want to
change system-wide settings in order to get proper behavior in a
terminal emulator.

That does look more promising than anything else I've seen so far.

I use several different editors on various platforms, even vi/vim with
some frequency. But attempts to really learn vi to the point where it's
not incredibly awkward just haven't worked. Maybe something will click
eventually.
