With UCX/HP TCPIP I've never had any issues issues connecting to it, but when I tired tcpware I could log in, but when trying to do a dir or ls or any other remote operation I got bad return codes and nothing works. If I remember correctly, there was something in my server side logs about it not liking extended passive mode (I tired active ftp as well) even though I'm fairly sure EPSV has worked with other clients without any issues.

Right now I mostly work with the BSDs and Windows(ugh). I'm new in the group and would like to get more involved with the community. I was born slightly after when Cutler moved to Microsoft, so I'd like to be able to reap the benefits of the VMS community's long term collective experience.

I'm not sure of the date, but TCPware has supported EPSV (and EPRT) for more than 5 years. The TCPware FTP server should be leaving SYS$LOGIN:FTPSERVER_DTP.LOG around and that would show what commands there were problems with.
