Public cloud is simply another name for selective IT outsourcing. 
There are pros and cons.

Private Cloud is simply another name for internal Shared Services. 
There are pros and cons.

These are business models, the technical platform is irrelevant.

Yes, and both models have been around for decades.

Part of the challenges faced by big companies like IBM and HP is that 
they have been getting to caught up in the hype. They need to get
back to basics and really understand what Cust's need.
