Buying V8.4-1H1 right now will require relicensing all products from
VSI, if you want support. This is how VSI will be making their
revenues. (This is also why I eventually expect to see VSI and
Nemonix doing packaged deals for x86-64 server configurations running
OpenVMS on x86-64, but I digress.)

Many of the folks with existing V8.4 licenses and existing support from
HP for V8.4 configurations will defer those purchases. This unless
the particular site wants or needs Poulson or Tukwila servers, or wants
an alternative to HP support. Various folks will probably defer
purchases and relicensing until whatever new-features release that VSI
makes available, and others will likely defer purchases until VSI has
been around for a few years. Some of the folks will just be shopping
for a good deal or a discount from VSI, of course.

This is basically what I wrote would happen, though HP providing
front-line support for Tukwila / i2 servers did get added to the
Poulson / i4 servers with HP front-line support available.

Presumably, Kittson will be added to that list of servers, when (if?)
that server series becomes available.
