Verizon wants to be a wireless-only company. Recently sold many states
to Frontier. So if in Verizon country, don't expect upgrades until
Verizon has sold your territory.
Secondly, and this applies to pretty much all telcos: they are no
interested in growing their copper plant. Generally speaking, all
greenfields are being done with FTTP.
However, if your area is very much copper and there are not many new
developments, the telco is less interested in installing FTTP equipment
at the CO to serve just a few homes.
But if there are new housing developments, then this changes equation
beause once they have the OLT at the CO, deploying fibre to serve
currently unserved areas becomes possible.
