One interpretation is that his mandate is to move VMS customers to
platforms that HP can make money supporting (Linux/Windows) and thus
compete against VSI.

The other interpretation (which I prefer) is that the priority to move
off IA64 has just been raised and there are now folks whose mandate is
to move customers off the sinking platform and shift VMS customers to
VSI sooner rather than later.

If you start to have migration managers before HP has formally announced
the end of life for IA64, that announcement can't be that far away. If
Kittson (even if just rebranded Poulson with higher clock rate) doesn't
come out soon,  it may mean that the ship is sinking faster and
supporting migrations has become more of a priority.


Maybe they will announce first boot on an x86 :-)
