I can understand that interpretation in early days of HP owning VMS
where they would want to move Digital customers over to that IA64 HP thing.
But if that title was granted after 2010 when not only VMS engineering
but also management were disbanded, it is much more likely to match what
Meg Whitman told financial analysts that there was nothing that could be
done to save BCS and that the focus would be on migrating customers to
Linux/Windows on industry standard servers.
Has anyone attended the presentations done since the news of VSI taking
over VMS development started ? Has his role (or tone of speeches)
pointed in one direction or another ?
One would hope that from now one, HP would be helping prepare customers
to move to VMS-x86
However, business imperatives might still be to try to sell them IS64
boxes for now since VMS on x86 isn't yet a deliverable product.
