As I remember, it is mostly (only?) SMTP that has a new config method.
When I look at my system, I have these files in the CPIP$SMTP_COMMON
directory:
$ d TCPIP$SMTP_COMMON/since=25-feb-2012/bef=27-feb-2012
Directory SYS$SPECIFIC:[TCPIP$SMTP]
TCPIP$SMTP.CONF;1 4 26-FEB-2012 15:27:32.42
TCPIP$SMTP_OSSBY1.LOG;1 1 26-FEB-2012 15:27:34.17
TCPIP$SMTP_PRE_V57_CONFIG.BCK;1 9 26-FEB-2012 15:27:32.07
TCPIP$SMTP_V57_ROLLOVER.LOG;1 2 26-FEB-2012 15:27:32.28
Total of 10 files, 22 blocks.
$
So the 5.7 install reads the old config and creates
the new TCPIP$SMTP.CONF file. And yes, SMTP "works" with
no other (manual) config directly after the upgrade.
If there are other subsystems apart from SMTP that has similar
new config file formats, I don't know.
As far as I remember the TCPIP 5.7 just "worked".
And that was "as exepcted" also, I must say.
I have only made one change to the CONF file after the
upgrade, changed "Alternate-Gateway: xxx".
Jan-Erik.
