[Info-vax] 8.4 and DECwindows CDE login box not coming up

Right.

What can cause this?  Anyone else seen it?

I don't see any.

Right, but the process exists for just a short time.  Difficult to get 
the PID in one window and do SET PROCESS in another without DECwindows 
working!
