   "-q" seems to offer some improvement:

alp $ ssh alp-l show default

@ SYS$MANAGER:ANNOUNCE.TXT

Authentication successful.


  ALP$DKC0:[SMS]


alp $ ssh alp-l -q show default

  ALP$DKC0:[SMS]

alp $ 

   But RSH is better:

alp $ rsh alp-l show default
  ALP$DKC0:[SMS]
alp $ 

   Around here:

alp $ tcpip show version

  HP TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Alpha Version V5.7 - ECO 5
  on a COMPAQ Professional Workstation XP1000 running OpenVMS V8.4
