I noticed that the Python kit (from vmspython.org) includes a LIBZ:

$ sh log libz*

   "LIBZ" = "DISK$JFPLIB0008A:[LIBZ]"
   "LIBZ_SHR32" = "LIBZ:LIBZSHR32-1_2_8_EV56.EXE"
   "LIBZ_SHR64" = "LIBZ:LIBZSHR64-1_2_8_EV56.EXE"

Can one expect that to be the same as "ZLIB 1.2.8" ?

And if you do not plan to use any "S" functions?
Is the rest od Curl usable without any SSL kit installed?
