Bill: This is NOT intended for you. Sign up for and learn OpenVMS
and DCL over on the decuserve server, at least until you better
understand the DCL command line.

DECwindows is the product name for X Windows on OpenVMS, with three
user interfaces from "newest" to oldest: CDE, Motif and XUI.
VAX Workstation Software (VWS) predates the DECwindows product, and is
not based on X. VWS provided a local windowing system rather more akin
to what the Windows and OS X user interfaces provide, and with the UIS
APIs. VWS is not X.

Ayup; Motif and CDE.

VWS was around as a supported product in parallel with DECwindows up
past Y2K, for those that wanted that. AFAIK, VWS never supported any
additional graphics controllers beyond the mainstream versions prior to
VAX/VMS V5.0-3, but it was maintained and updated. VWS is not
applicable here, as simh does not emulate graphics, and as VWS does not
provide remote-capable X displays.
