I actually left simh to move to this old clunker since I like the tactile experience (and inconveniences). I originally had 7.3 on the 3100, but got a hold of this 6.1 distro and decided to install it. A weird choice I know, I just have an attraction to all this old DEC stuff and wanted an OS that came from DEC and not Compaq. I guess I'm a purist.

I'm not exactly new to VMS, since I've used to for roughly 4 years now, starting with simh. I've learned most aspects to get me this far, but obviously I'm still rough with others, but I enjoy learning.

The User Guide and Installation manuals I have for SPM say it's for VMS 5.0 or later, but it was still included with this 6.1 distro. I guess it is a "consolidated distortion" :p

The Consolidated Distribution doesn't match the OS versions. You have to read
the release notes for whatever version to see what is compatible.

V5.5-2, V6.2, and V7.2 are all rather good releases. V7.3 is just a warmed over
V7.2. Not too sure about that V6.1 ....
