No, I proved that you could figure out the size *WITHOUT* reading the file.

$DISPLAY is all that is necessary to read the stored info.  $DISPLAY takes
a FAB (File Access Block) and there's NO NEED to $CONNNECT a record stream
(via Record Access Block) to get that information.
