MariaDB and MySQL have gotten a tremendous market share on
other platforms without it.

And rewriting a database from a failover model to a loadsharing model
is a huge task.

Why spend a lot of money creating a VMS specific fork to support
features that are not strictly needed.

A web server is very different than a database in this regard.
