I had no idea that this level of quality control was still in place at VSI (and I dare say, it is probably the primary reason why OpenVMS will be around for a long time to come). In the Linux world we are seeing new updates every 2-4 weeks (although the kernel is only updated every 2-3 months) so I just don't believe that the same attention to detail is happening in the Linux ecosystem.
Thanks for your kind words, Neil. For me as a software engineer, it's an absolute delight to be working in a company where everyone gets this, where we really try to do things the right way, and where our management understands what's involved. I've worked in engineering organizations where this wasn't the case, and where I constantly felt I was fighting an uphill battle. Being part of VMS engineering feels like coming home at last for me.
