I had no idea that this level of quality control was still in place at VSI (and I dare say, it is probably the primary reason why OpenVMS will be around for a long time to come). In the Linux world we are seeing new updates every 2-4 weeks (although the kernel is only updated every 2-3 months) so I just don't believe that the same attention to detail is happening in the Linux ecosystem.

We have not precisely replicated the testing environment we had in Nashua, but it is the same basic idea and growing all the time. On four separate clusters we usually have a combined total of 4000-5000 official test hours per week on systems running 8.4, 8.4-1H1, 8.4-2, 8.4-2L1, our next release, and Alpha. New tests are always being added.
