My ignorance is probably showing, but having never cracked open a DS10 power supply (or any other power supply, for that matter), I wonder if it would be practical for someone with some soldering skill, having a working but very old DS10 power supply, to just remove and replace some or all of the capacitors. Would it be practical to try to prolong the life of a power supply this way? Would the necessary parts be cheaper than buying a rebuilt power supply?
(Of course, a thoroughly rebuilt unit very likely would have had some other components--transformer(s)? transistors, diodes, etc?--which would likely extend the unit's life expectancy more than just replacing capacitors. Maybe by a lot more?)
