See the link I just posted and the reason they chose
the QEI OpenVMS solution. They wanted the middle tier
to be disaster tolerant. 

Generally speaking, I expect many more future solutions
to have similar requirements.

You have just made my point - In the longer term, VSI
should not put all of its eggs in one basket.

Of course, pricing would have to change to become much
more competitive and much more simplified. 

That goes with being competitive on any new target
platform, including X86-64.
