A simple calculation tells us how silly this way of thinking is.
Suppose 100 people are using a server for 5 years. that means they are
using the server for 5 x 100 x 1800 hours = 900,000 hours. By tuning the
server its performance increases by 25%. That means you can save 225,000
hours. Compare that with the let's say 20 hours it would cost you to
tune the system.
